Reflection

art photography - final portfolio

My interest in photography stems from the love of being able to elicit emotion through a singular composition. I seek to create content that not only evokes emotion for the viewer but can also be interpretive. I strive to construct an ethereal aesthetic in my work to provoke memorable emotional responses through the application of unconventional lighting techniques. I’ve tried to incorporate these methods in photographing products, events, and portraits.  Photographers such as Oswaldo Cepeda, Carter Baran, and Jake Wangner through their use of innovative lighting practices have inspired me to explore unique moods in the photographic studio.

In this latest series titled Reflection, I experimented with a variety of lighting techniques such as shutter drag and image projection as a key light. The pattern found within the projection has the potential to add an extra element of curiosity to the photos themselves. I believe lighting has a huge impact on the overall sensation of an image; I intend to test this theory throughout my work.
